When thinking of bamboo structures, people often imagine buildings in Asia or South-America, where it has been used traditionally for centuries. But make no mistake, bamboo is swiftly making its way into Europe: as a sustainable building material, but also as aa climate-positive crop. This program explores how bamboo can shape the European events industry in the next decade when it comes to scenic design, regenerative farming and socio-economic factors.

The panelists are: Christopher Matthews of Atelier One, an award-winning structural engineer bureau, that pushes innovation and has engineered the world’s biggest bamboo structure, The Arc at Green school. Jan from BambooLogic introduces bamboo as a carbon-offsetting crop, discusses the life cycle of the material – and shows how festivals can invest in regenerative bamboo farms. Levi Sibthorpe, Creative Director of Nachtlab Agency, who shares his bamboo building experience at Boom Festival, envisioning open-plan bamboo architecture at European festivals.
